Do you have a food allergy or intolerance? Do you struggle to find restaurants home or abroad? If yes, biteappy can help!
We met the owner of biteappy the day after she launched at the Free From & Allergy Show in October in Liverpool last year. Caroline was diagnosed with coeliacs when she was 17 and struggled with not only the effects but people not understanding what was wrong with her and having to each different food. She then inherited a lactose intolerance which made eating out for her even more difficult, and 10 years ago made it really difficult to eat out.  On a trip to Amsterdam early 2014, Caroline found it impossible to eat anywhere which resulted in a night in tears of frustration and getting some raw fruit to eat from a supermarket. Hence biteappy was born, Caroline realised that there were websites and apps to help people with single allergies and intolerance but what about us who have multiple food allergies and intolerances?
Caroline spent the next 8 months trailing through websites, restaurants and menus finally after a lot of hard work she managed to have 30,000 hand picked restaurants on her database. Biteappy is a worldwide restaurant search and now has over 40,000 restaurants on it which means it is great when you are at home, travelling or abroad. All the information on the app and website is what is stated on the menus or website of the restaurants.
Her only struggle was nuts, although not having a nut allergy herself a close friend does and still to this day seems that restaurants have ‘nut free’ options on their website but not many are a nut free vicinity, we hope this will improve for all those nut allergy sufferers out there and Caroline works hard with Nicky, the owner of Food Freedom to help train restaurants when they get bad reviews on the website and app, therefore it is vital for you all to get onto the free app and rate and review restaurants to help improve the free from eating out experience!
The app is Free, the only in app purchase is to remove adverts but they aren’t invasive and this is optional so please don’t be put off. Caroline recently launched a new feature on the app which allows people to upload photos, it is so much fun seeing pictures and being interactive and its really easy! The app also has translation cards built in so you can communicate your allergies in over 25 countries. You can save your allergy tags in your profile so you don’t have to always add them in the search field and you can save favourites for those who love to pre plan. Biteappy is new but Caroline constantly listens to customer feedback to constantly try and improve it.
There is a new feature on the Blog which she does restaurant reviews, product reviews and lots of recipes to try out so take a look, all these things will help and make you feel more confident when cooking or shopping. The Blog and recipes is in the process of being properly linked to the app! If you have a product you want reviewing then contact or if you want to share your thoughts with Caroline, she would love to hear your thoughts on what you love and hate, there is always room for improvement and she will try her best budget allowing to do this.
Biteappy website is and make sure you check out the Blog to look at new products and get recipe inspiration

About Us

Who are we?

Allergy Buddies are custom made products to alert everyone of a child’s allergy or intolerance.

Ever had an instance at a crèche, party, play-gym where someone has given your child something that made them ill? Yes me too. I’m sure like me you want to keep your child safe and that is where Allergy Buddies comes in. My little chap is so far intolerant to diary, eggs and we think citric acid as well as hayfever of every description and pet allergies. So I decided to create a brand that would allow a child’s allergy/intolerance to be easily identified by any carer, teacher and other parents and to help prevent those dreaded slips.
